Grandma Lillie's Oatmeal

Ingredients

For 10 serving(s) ()

  • 4 cup(s) organic rolled oats
  • 2 cup(s) organic steel cut oats
  • 5 cup(s) filtered water
  • 2 tablespoon(s) fresh lemon juice or apple cider vinegar
  • 3.5 cup(s) filtered water
  • 1 tablespoon(s) cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon(s) sea salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon(s) clove
  • 1 tablespoon(s) pure vanilla
  • 0.5 cup(s) almonds, dried currents, raisins, cherries, or cranberries (Optional, but nutritious additions.)

Directions

  • Take first four ingredients, combine and let sit out at room temperature for 12-24 hours to make grains more digestible and nutritious.
  • In the morning or when ready to cook, preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Mix soaked oats with remaining ingredients, except butter. Bake for 1 hour.
  • Stir in butter if using and serve.
  • Refrigerate leftovers and warm on stovetop or in steam baskets over hot water for a quick and nutritious breakfast another morning.
  • Add fresh blueberries to change it slightly if desired.
